Voted Most Desirable Place To Live In Florida

Lake Mary has consistently been voted as one of the most desirable places to live in the U. S. reaching the rank of #4 in 2007.  In 2008 it was ranked the best place to live in all of Florida.   Known as the City of Lakes – the largest of which was named after a minister’s wife – Lake Mary itself is rather small with a population of just under 14,000.  However the surrounding Lake Mary area has a population of just alittle over 49,000 (2006 Census) and these communities all utilize the Lake Mary postal facilities.  This area has one of the lowest crime rates in all of Florida.  See the many wonderful Lake Mary homes below or to the left, refine the search for your Lake Mary home or investment.  

Its original roots are no different than the other areas of Central Florida – citrus production in the late 19^th Century – and it was formally incorporated in 1973.   The opening of Disney World kicked-off the large scale transformation of Central Florida and Lake Mary was no exception in sharing this growth. It is now a desirable bedroom community of Orlando. 

High-Tech Sector Expanding

However, Lake Mary differs in that it now supports its own business sector – high tech - along International Parkway, and Primera Boulevard and the Lake Emma corridor. Technology companies in simulation and banking software, telecommunications, lasers, microchips and electronics are located in the area. In addition, Class-A office space is available along International Parkway and Primera Boulevard where AAA, Chase Bank, Mitsubishi, Symantec, and Veritas all have offices.   

Amenities Abound   

Taking advantage of the fabulous Florida weather, Lake Mary supports a variety of outdoor activities.   Excellent golf courses, extensive bike riding trails, and numerous parks and park-like areas are located throughout the area. 

Plentiful restaurants and superb shopping can be found in a number of locations including Colonial Town Park and Park Place. 

The areas upscale communities in and around the area include Alaqua, Alaqua Lakes, Carrisbrooke, Heathrow, Heathrow and Heathrow Woods, Lake Markham Estates, Magnolia Plantation, and Timacuan.

Also home to a branch of Seminole State College, Lake Mary is served by two exits off I-4 and is 25 minutes north of Orlando and 45 minutes south of Daytona Beach.   The beaches of New Smyrna can be reached in 40 minutes.  It is approximately 7 miles from the St. John’s River.

Residents of the eastern side of Lake Mary have convenient access to the Lynx Bus Service serving metropolitan Orlando.
